Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
Last updated: June 2026
Your privacy matters to us
HéShìBì (HSB) is approved and supervised by the Ghana Securities and Exchange Commission. Because of this, we are required to collect certain information about you — but we only collect what we genuinely need, we keep it safe, and we never sell it to anyone.
This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what your rights are. It is written in plain language because we believe you deserve to understand exactly how your data is used.
What information we collect
Information you give us when signing up
- Your full name, date of birth, and nationality
- Your Ghana Card number or passport number (required by law to verify your identity)
- Your phone number and email address
- Your home address
- A photo of your ID document and a selfie (for identity verification)
Information we collect when you use HSB
- Every transaction you make — amounts, dates, who you sent to or received from
- Your Mobile Money number or bank account details (for deposits and withdrawals)
- The type of device you use and your IP address
- When and how often you use the app
We do not collect information we do not need. We do not track your location, access your contacts, or read your messages.
Why we collect this information
Because the law requires it
As a Ghana SEC approved financial service, we are legally required to verify your identity before you can use HSB. This is called "Know Your Customer" (KYC) and it exists to protect everyone — including you — from fraud and financial crime.
To run your account and process your transactions
We need your information to send and receive money on your behalf, to top up and withdraw funds, and to send you notifications about your account.
To keep your account safe
We monitor transactions to spot unusual activity that might mean your account has been accessed by someone else. If we see something suspicious, we will contact you straight away.
To report to our regulator
We are required to share certain transaction information with the Ghana SEC as part of our licence conditions. We do not share more than what is legally required.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies on our website to keep it working and to understand how visitors use it.
Essential cookies
These are needed for the site and your account to function — for example, to keep you signed in and to keep your session secure. They are always on because the site cannot work without them.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they view, and how they found us. This helps us improve the site. Google may process limited information (such as your approximate location, device type, and pages visited) on our behalf.
Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them. When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline. If you decline, we do not load analytics, and you can still use HSB normally. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this website.
We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not sell any information collected through analytics.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell your information. We do not share it for advertising. We only share it with:
- The Ghana Securities and Exchange Commission — as required by our licence
- The Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) — if required by law
- Our identity verification provider — to check your ID documents when you sign up
- Our banking partner — to process your deposits and withdrawals
- Mobile Money providers (MTN, Telecel) — to process MoMo transactions
All third parties we work with are required to protect your information and can only use it for the specific purpose we have shared it for.
How we keep your information safe
- All data is encrypted — scrambled so that only authorised systems can read it
- We use secure, industry-standard systems to store your information
- Access to customer data inside HSB is strictly limited to people who need it to do their job
- We test our security regularly and fix any issues immediately
No system is completely risk-free. If there is ever a breach that affects your data, we will notify you and the Ghana SEC as quickly as possible.
How long we keep your information
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is open, and for at least 6 years after your account is closed. This is required by Ghanaian financial regulations.
After that period, we delete or anonymise your data so it can no longer be linked back to you.
Your rights
Under Ghanaian data protection law, you have the right to:
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong
- Ask us to delete your information (where the law allows)
- Ask us to stop using your information for certain purposes
- Complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana if you are unhappy with how we handle your data
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@hsbgh.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will notify you through the app and update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of HSB after a change means you accept the updated policy.
If you have any questions about this policy, email us at privacy@hsbgh.com.
