How we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
To offer a financial service, we're required to collect certain information about you. We only collect what we genuinely need, we keep it safe, and we never sell it to anyone.
This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what your rights are. It's written in plain language because you deserve to understand exactly how your data is used.
As a financial service, we're legally required to verify your identity before you can use HSB. This is called "Know Your Customer" (KYC), and it exists to protect everyone — including you — from fraud and financial crime.
We need your information to send and receive money on your behalf, to top up and withdraw funds, and to send you notifications about your account.
We monitor transactions to spot unusual activity that might mean someone else has accessed your account. If we see something suspicious, we'll contact you straight away.
We're sometimes required to share certain transaction information with authorities as required by law. We never share more than what is legally required.
We use cookies and similar technologies on our website to keep it working and to understand how visitors use it.
These are needed for the site and your account to function — for example, to keep you signed in and your session secure. They're always on because the site can't work without them.
We use analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they view, and how they found us, so we can improve the site. These are only set if you accept them. When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline. If you decline, we don't load analytics, and you can still use HSB normally.
We don't sell your information, and we don't share it for advertising. We only share it with:
Every third party we work with is required to protect your information and can only use it for the specific purpose we've shared it for.
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is open, and for at least 6 years after it's closed, as required by Ghanaian financial regulations. After that, we delete or anonymise your data so it can no longer be linked back to you.
Under Ghanaian data protection law, you have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@hsbgh.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll notify you through the app and update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use HSB after a change means you accept the updated policy.
